School Open House - Great Success!

Like many family outings, you hope the weather is on your side. This was the case as clouds seemed to fill the entire sky on August 30th, but despite the uncertain weather 126 Waterville High School students and their families joined nearly the entire school staff at the Head of Falls. This year, like past years, started with an Open House which provides Waterville families an opportunity to meet our faculty and staff while enjoying some good food and great conversation.
This is WSHS's second Open House held away from the high school facility. Our goal was to increase the number of people we reach--attendance--and improve the communications between our students' parents or guardians and the school staff staff--
interaction.

While student schedules were distributed and everyone chatted away, many of the school's administrative team grilled hot dogs, hamburgers, and veggie burgers. When it came time to eat, we found no end of help from the various managers from our local Hannaford Supermarkets. Students and their families, as well as staff and faculty, were able to enjoy this time and talk a little school in a relaxed atmosphere. Shuttle buses ran all through the evening moving people back and forth between Head of Falls and high school.

We sincerely appreciate all the support shown to our students by the friends, family, school board

members, staff, faculty, and community members who attended. A special thanks is also extended to Joseph's Market for providing significant discount on the hamburgers, Nisson Bread for donating and discounting bread products, Waterville Parks and Recreation Department for providing equipment for the event, and Hannaford Supermarkets and their managers for providing much of the food and the serving staff.

If you missed this great community event, be sure to pencil in a reminder for next year. It will be bigger and better, especially if you are there!
