 The STAND committee highly supports this amazing event! PLease join us on January 19!

This event will be on the steps of City Hall here in Waterville. In love and solidarity with all Mainers we wanted a special event here in Central Maine on this day. So on Jan. 19th Waterville will host its first Equality Rally. We hope you and your family and friends will join us on this day of celebration. Meet at 11 am at Waterville City Hall at 1 Common Street.

The theme includes amplifying the many voices of the unique and inspirational people and communities who call Maine home including new Mainers, refugees and immigrants, Indigenous communities, the LGBTQ community, women, and our youth.

 

March 30th, Mid Maine Technical Center The second annual Maine Student Film & Video Conference is a full-day event that will offer a slate of hands-on workshops for middle and high school students in narrative and documentary filmmaking, broadcasting, photography, and a variety of technical production skills. Educators will have access to professional workshops and presentations focused on teaching and learning with film in the classroom. Experts in these fields from across the state of Maine will work with small groups to provide individualized instruction. Attendance and participation in the conference are free, and registration is limited to 200 students and 50 educators. Colleges, universities, working filmmakers, and professionals in the digital arts will be in attendance and lead all workshops. During the week of midterms, students are invited to stay after lunch, from 12-1, for stress relief activities. There will be coloring/games in the Media Center, and basketball/other games in the gym.

The New England Service Scholarship deadline has been extended to January 18.  Scholarship amounts are $1000 and will be awarded based on:

1.     academic performance

2.     demonstrated community service

3.     financial need.
