Dear Waterville High School Educators,

US Capitol
I am emailing you today on behalf of Senator Susan M. Collins to inform you of the United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP) in Washington D.C. This national program provides an annual opportunity for talented high school students with demonstrated leadership abilities to deepen their understanding of America’s political processes. Senator Susan Collins is an alumni of this program.

Two students from each state are selected to participate in all expenses paid weeklong trip to Washington D.C. from March 2-9, 2019. The week includes meetings and briefings with the President of the United States, Senators, Cabinet Officials, Supreme Court justices, and other government officials. A $10,000 scholarship will be presented to each of the student delegates during their Washington visit. Any high school juniors or seniors who have participated in student government, civil, or educational organizations are eligible to apply by the deadline of October 12, 2018.

Attached to this email you will find a letter and flyer about the program and the student eligibility requirements. Each principal has the opportunity to nominate one student from their school. We would greatly appreciate your help in distributing this information to eligible Waterville students who demonstrate an interest in learning about our government.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Best,

Abby
